Mutations & Weather

Mutations are the real money-maker in Grow a Garden 2. A mutation is a special version of a crop that multiplies its sell value — often many times over — and most of them are triggered by server-wide weather events. A single well-mutated rare crop can out-earn a whole plot of plain ones, so learning what each mutation is worth and how to trigger it is one of the biggest upgrades you can make.
How mutations work
When a crop grows, it can roll a mutation. Each mutation carries a fixed value multiplier applied to that crop's base sell price (see the crops & seed values list for base prices). The higher the multiplier, the more a single harvest is worth — so before you bulk-sell, always check whether a crop mutated. Most mutations come from weather; a few, like Gold, can appear from a normal growth roll.
All mutations & their value
Here is every current mutation with its sell-value multiplier and how to get it, sorted from the most valuable down:
| Mutation | Sell value | How to get |
|---|---|---|
| Glow | ×80 | Star Fruit plants beam nearby fruit at night |
| Eclipsed | ×80 | Eclipse weather (harvest an Eclipse Bloom fruit) |
| Bloodlit | ×70 | Blood Moon night |
| Ignited | ×60 | Sunburst weather |
| Chakra | ×60 | Fall Harvest — Kitsune night steal from an empty garden |
| Starstruck | ×50 | Starfall weather |
| Aurora | ×40 | Aurora weather |
| Rainbow | ×30 | Rare growth roll; boosted by Rainbow weather |
| Electric | ×25 | Lightning weather |
| Amber | ×20 | Fall Harvest — only from an Amber Cranberry fruit |
| Veil | ×20 | Fall Harvest — planting a seed with a Shadow Dragon equipped |
| Frozen | ×20 | Snowfall weather |
| Gold | ×10 | Random chance as crops grow (the classic value mutation) |
| Chained | ×8 | Special event |
Weather events
Weather sweeps the entire server at once and is the main way crops gain mutations — so when a good event rolls in, it pays to quickly fill any empty soil so more of your crops catch the bonus. Each event below shows what it does and the mutation it can apply:
| Weather | Effect | Mutation |
|---|---|---|
| Rain | Doubles growth speed for every plant. | — |
| Rainbow | Boosted Rainbow luck — far higher chance of Rainbow crops. | Rainbow |
| Lightning | Crops can gain the Electric mutation. | Electric |
| Snowfall | Crops can gain the Frozen mutation. | Frozen |
| Starfall | Crops can gain the Starstruck mutation. | Starstruck |
| Aurora | Crops can gain the Aurora mutation. | Aurora |
| Sunburst | Crops can gain the Ignited mutation. | Ignited |
| Eclipse | Started by harvesting an Eclipse Bloom fruit — the eclipsed moon beams fruit with the Eclipsed mutation. | Eclipsed |
Nights & moons
Every night rolls a moon, and the moon decides how fast your crops grow while you sleep on it — plus, on some nights, free seeds dropping around the map. Moons are per world: Garden Valley keeps the Mega Moon, while Fall Harvest swaps it for the Harvest Moon, the single best night in the game for selling.
| Night | Effect | World |
|---|---|---|
| Harvest Moon | Fall's headline night: ×10 growth, every non-featured fruit sells at ×2 and one featured fruit — the same on every server — pays ×5. Pets move ×3 faster and you move ×1.4 faster. | Fall Harvest |
| Blood Moon | ×2 growth, and beams strike your plants through the night, leaving them Bloodlit. | Both worlds |
| Gold Moon | ×3 growth, and Gold seeds drop around the map for you to claim. | Both worlds |
| Rainbow Moon | ×4 growth, and Rainbow seeds drop around the map for you to claim. | Both worlds |
| Mega Moon | ×3 growth, and Mega seeds drop faster than on any other night. | Garden Valley |
| Moon | The ordinary night: ×2 growth and nothing else. | Both worlds |
Tips for farming mutations
- Plant before the weather lands. Mutations are rolled as crops grow, so fill your plot the moment an event starts to maximize how many crops can catch it.
- Mutate your most valuable crops. A multiplier on a high-base-value crop is worth far more than the same multiplier on a cheap one — pair rare seeds with rare weather.
- Never bulk-sell blind. Check for Gold, Rainbow and weather mutations before selling — it's easy to dump a jackpot crop by accident.
- Use gear and pets. Sprinklers from the gear guide boost growth and luck, and some pets raise your odds of Gold or Rainbow crops.
